Differences between Nutritional Therapy and Dietetics
Nutritional Therapy
A Nutritional Therapist works on optimum nutrient levels to treat and prevent illness and is more prone to prescribe a broad and uniquely tailored food supplement program.
As a complementary medicine, Nutritional Therapy encourages the body to heal itself and look at the client from a holistic perspective.
Use sources not only from proven scientific research but also from peer reviewed sources and cutting edge research.
Take environmental factor into consideration.
Most Nutritional Therapists work privately or in private practices.
Dietetics
A Dietician is a State-Registered nutritionist who is educated in translating science into terms that everyone can understand. They work on Recommended Daily Allowance (RDAs) levels set by the government and only occasionally prescribe food supplements if there is a case of obvious nutrient deficiency.
Tend to focus on a particular problem, usually do not take into account biochemical indivuduality, and is not regarded a complementary medicine.
Only use research from proven scientific evidence.
Generally do not take environmental factor into consideration.
Most Dieticians work within the NHS and carries out instructions by doctors.
