Unravel the nutrition myths
There are many health myths in the media and food industry that often lead to confusion. Do egg yolks lead to raised cholesterol? Will dairy give me strong bones? Do nuts make me fat? Are high protein diets a friend or fo? Should I avoid all wheat? Do supplements help?
Confused? I bet! As we are all bio chemically unique a personal dietary plan is vital. An appointment with myself will result in an individually tailored food and supplement program to reach your set goals.
Key areas that Nutritional therapy can help with:
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is natural medicine and dietary advice based on scientific research aiming to achieve optimum health. By using food and supplements one can strengthen the immune system, detoxify the body, improve the digestive system, and support vitamin and mineral deficiencies. By treating a person holistically you may support the body’s resistance to disease and assist in functions like memory, intellect, concentration, digestion, detoxification and physical peformance.
It is unrealistic to expect long-term health without quality fresh, raw materials that provide the ingredients for health. Basically, what you eat may have a significant impact on your wellbeing.
Many of today's health problems (physical and mental) are often not due to 'wrong genes' but based on underlying biochemical problems. There are several recent research papers that show that many of today’s health problems such as obesity, diabetes, cancers, allergies, reproductive problems to name a few may be caused by the environment we live in and the abundance of toxic chemicals and pollutants. It therefore seems logical to overlook all areas of health such as diet, work, where we live, stress, physical activity, house hold and beauty products. Managing these areas better may be an investement for life.
Natural medicine rather than synthetic medicine
Surely it must be better to prevent and manage illness with natural medicine, i.e. with food and supplements, than with synthetic medicine. With natural, first class supplements you support the body and may experience far fewer side effects. However, there are vast differences between the quality of supplements and it can often be difficult to choose amongst the numerous brands. A good Nutritional Therapist will know about these differences and guide you in the right direction. I work with a company that only uses natural ingredients and very few allergens and fillers. You cannot buy them on the high street as they and I believe that supplements as any medicine should be treated with respect and it is advisable that you are first seen by a qualified Nutritional Therapist before you start taking them.
Nutrition for everyone
All people have something to gain from Nutritional Therapy. If your food intake is already good and you only need a general diet check, then one session may be enough. However, if you are not feeling well and have specific conditions to address then you will need several consultations. Unlike conventional medicine Nutritional Therapy takes longer before the benefits kick in, as the body has to adopt on a cellular level - thus addressing the cause on a more permanent basis and not only the symptoms.
My advice is safe and can also be used to help babies, children and as well as adults. As nutrition works on a cellular level and provide vital ingredients to the body the treatment protocol often has far fewer side effects than conventional medicine.
Nutritional Therapy can either be used alongside conventional medicine or as an alternative to it. Even if you are already seeing your doctor for a problem you can always complement the treatment with nutrition and probably lessen any side effects from the conventional medication.
How effective is the treatment?
The effectiveness of the treatment is partly up to you, the client. The more committed and consistent your are the more effective is the treatment and the more progress can be achieved within a short time period. Nutritional Therapy is a long/life time commitment and there are no short cuts to success.
